If your laptop broke and you're a Berkeley student, Berkeley provides loaner laptops during the academic year. But if it's the summer, you're out of luck. And what if you just need a quick loaner for a day or two while we repair your device?
Fortunately, we offer zero-cost loaners all year! Here's the process:
Contact us at berkeley@the-it-club.org.
Bring a valid government ID and your student ID, and give us a timeframe on when you plan to return the device (e.g. in a month, after you get a computer of your own).
Use the loaner!
Return the loaner at the agreed-upon deadline.
Some more info about our loaners:
We mainly have Windows laptops, though we also have a handful of Macs.
If you break or damage the loaner, we'll charge you the cost of repair or replacement. So please don't damage them!
You can run whatever you want on the loaner however you want as long as you don't damage the hardware.
When you return the loaner, we securely erase all data on the device! If there's any data you don't want to lose, let us know and we'll help migrate your data before erasing the device.
